We're very proud of our drama club students! The Cycle 3 (9-12 year olds) group made it to the final of the Fast+Fresh competition! This is a short play competition for schools in which students are required to write and perform their own 10 minute plays.
The ME group were one of the youngest, up against students in years 9 and 10 (age 15-16 years). In their heat, there were 10 short plays and ME was 1 of 3 groups selected to go through to the finals. A great achievement! The finals are on next Friday 13 June at the Riverside Theatre, Parramatta. No matter what the result, it's been a fantastic achievement and experience.
Here's what student Lucy (10yo) had to say.
“This island is going to kill us! Swim for your lives!” That was my last line in Fast + Fresh, then we all ran off the stage in the same direction. Luckily it was part of the play. We sat down and waited for what seemed like an hour because we had to wait for the other groups to finish. Then we got to do our bows and a lady said some things about Fast + Fresh and then finally she announced the 3 groups that would be going into the finals: group 6 “The Shelter” , group 2 “Justine and Stefanie” and group 4 “The Island“. “That’s our group!” Everyone in our group screamed. I felt like screaming, crying and vomiting all at the same time! We all ran off stage and Natalie (drama teacher) was waiting for us in the wings and she looked so happy. We did it!".
